The Sacraments

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.
— Ephesians 2:8

Baptism

We have numerous Saturdays and Sundays scheduled for the Sacrament of Baptism. Please contact our parish secretary at (518) 462-1336 to arrange for the Baptism of your child. After scheduling a Baptism date, please complete a Baptismal Prep Class registration form. A Baptism volunteer will contact you to schedule a Baptism preparation class date. We ask that first-time parents attend a Baptismal preparation class as a way to prepare themselves for the continuing responsibility of raising their child as a Catholic.

Confirmation

Our Youth Confirmation program is designed to be a two year program that works alongside High School Youth Ministry, our parish Faith Formation for High School youth in grades 9-12, and other parish events and activities. Confirmation preparation is a unique experience offered to the youth of our parish during their 9th and 10th grade years, which includes community building and fellowship, small and large group formats, and service.

The Eucharist

The Eucharist is the bread of life. Jesus told us if we eat the bread of life (the gift of himself) we will live forever. The reception of First Holy Communion is open to all children in 2nd grade and older. Registration for preparation and celebration is available by contacting our Religious Education Coordinator at 518-462-1336.

Reconciliation

Prayer memorization is never required to participate in reconciliation at St. Pius X. We can’t emphasize enough: do not be nervous; our priests are there to help you. If you’re not sure what to discuss during reconciliation, consider viewing the examination of conscience below to guide you.

We offer the sacrament of Reconciliation every Saturday afternoon from 4pm – 4:45pm in the Chapel on a first come, first served basis. We also traditionally host an Advent and Lenten Penance Service in each respective season as announced.

Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Sick (also known as Anointing of the Sick, Last Rites, or Extreme Unction,) is for people who are facing major surgery, serious illness, chronic illness or aging. The sacrament may be repeated if the recipient suffers from a different illness or if the same illness or condition becomes more serious.

This sacrament affords the healing and strengthening power of Christ in these difficult times. The Sacrament of the Sick is offered every Tuesday following the 9am mass or by contacting the parish office at 518-462-1336.

Holy Orders

Life as a priest, deacon, religious sister or religious brother is fulfilling, joyful, and purposeful. Jesus tells us to pray that “the harvest master send laborers into the harvest.” If you have questions or would like to explore the possibility of a religious vocation, please contact Father Walsh at (518) 462-1336.

Matrimony

To Have and To Hold is our marriage preparation program here at St. Pius X Church. It is typically held in person and run by different married couples in our parish. The retreat includes four different sessions throughout the month with a group of engaged couples and married “mentor” couples. Please contact our parish secretary at (518) 462-1336 to discuss your plans for marriage at least six months prior to your desired wedding date. Please do not finalize reception plans until discussing your marriage plans with St. Pius X Church.
