


St. Pius is an active community always looking for ways to serve and love our neighbor as well as gathering together as a parish. In addition to our ministries we have special once a year events that we invite you to get involved in.
Parish Picnic – Held in September, volunteers serve on the planning committee and work on the day of the event. Contact Josie Pienkosz at joader@aol.com.
Host for Haiti – Held in October, volunteers help with this fundraising evening which begins with a cocktail reception at Siena followed by dinner in host homes to raise money for the St. Francis Xavier Haitian Orphanage in Haiti. Contact Matt Rucinski at hostforhaiti@sfxhaiti.org.
Judy A Ranalli Memorial Clothing Drive – Held in November, volunteers help to collect, sort and deliver clothing to an area in need. Contact Ann Smith at 465-8068 or religioused@stpiusxloudonville.org.
Fall Cleanup Day at Sunnyside Child Development Center in Troy, NY – 2016 Date TBA. Volunteers work between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on the grounds of Sunnyside Child Development Center to help out with fall cleaning. Bring a bagged lunch, rake, your work gloves and bags. Christmas Giving Tree – Parishioners take a tag off our Christmas tree at the end of November and early December that lists a need in our parish or greater community. Gifts need to be wrapped, labeled, and placed under the tree for distribution before Christmas. Contact Ellie Peterson at 785-1591 or elliep@nycap.rr.com.
Lighting the Advent Wreath – Families are invited to light the wreath at the beginning of all weekend Masses during Advent. If your family would like to participate, please contact Liz Jelstrom at 462-1336, ext 2035 or at service@stpiusxloudonville.org. She will need to following information: name (names), phone number, email and preferred Mass time.
Super Freeze Committee – Volunteers meet once a month from December to February with the concluding social event on Super Bowl Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00pm in Parish Center. Contact Maureen O’Hagan at 522-1483 or Joe O’Hagan at 522-1485 or mohagan@nycap.rr.com.

Mercy Tree – Parishioners are invited to take tags off of our tree during Lent. Each tag lists a need in our greater community. Items are then returned to collection bins, unwrapped, and distributed to area organizations in conjunction with our Annual Service Day.
Service Day – Volunteers gather together for one day to serve the needs of the Greater Capital Region. Our older parishioners, grade 6 – adult, serve off-site and our younger folks, grades K – 5, complete on-site projects. Please plan to join us for our next Service Day on Saturday, April 8, 2017.
