The Hehir Family: For the past fifty-six years, St. Pius X has been an integral part of the Hehir family. In 1962, Richard and Joan Hehir moved from Buffalo NY in search of a home, parish and Catholic school. They found not only a home, but a warm and welcoming parish at St. Pius. Their children Michael Hehir, Denise (Matthew) Fitzgerald, Kevin (Michelle) Hehir, Mary Therese (Alan) McNamara and Deirdre (Peter) Desmond all graduated from St. Pius where they were nurtured in their faith and studies. Joan began the speech program at St. Pius, at the request of Monsignor Kirwan. It was her joy to work with the children for 38 years. Dick volunteered as a Eucharistic minister, lector, and member of the School Board and the first Parish Council. The St. Pius community has been a great source of comfort and support to their family during the loss of their brother, Michael and recent passing of their father, Richard.

The Hehir children and grandchildren have been active participants in the St. Pius community. Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations, Weddings, Sports, Altar Serving and school events were all a part of their lives. They continue to be involved in many parish ministries and committees. They are grateful to have Father Walsh as their pastor who makes his parishioners his priority and is always there for them. St. Pius is a place they have gained many friendships. It is a positive, welcoming and loving community where the Hehir family will always feel at home.
