Kids are our future parish

When you hear a 5-year-old say “Mom, I want to serve communion like you do” our hearts sing, and we know that we are helping to build the future of our St. Pius X parish community.  Heather Thomas has made it her mission to care for the children of our parish as well as parents with young children. It started with the free nursery/babysitting program that runs from September to June at the 10:00 am Mass.  When Father Walsh wanted to pilot this program, Heather having an 18-month-old at the time, knew she needed to get involved.  Heather also helps with the kid’s bible ministry now as well. She was called to both of these rewarding ministries because she can help parents get more out of Sunday Mass from knowing that their children are well cared for in the nursery.  And she is helping our little ones know and love our God through our kid’s bible ministry. Heather is a role model for her own children and knows that her work is helping to create a more active parish today and in the future.  “We need our kids to see the value in being a part of a parish community as strong as ours, and how volunteering is really what makes that happen. I’m just fortunate enough to have a small hand in the village it takes to make it all go around.”
