St. Pius X Service Day:   “Let Your Light Shine”

Saturday, April 8, 2017

Please plan to join us for our annual parish-wide Service Day which will take place each year on a Saturday in April.  Join family, friends, our school community and fellow parishioners as we reach out to the Capital Region in service, fulfilling our Mission Statement of “serving and loving our neighbors”.  Each year, over 200 parishioners joined us as we fan out to 10 organizations throughout Albany.  For Frequently asked Questions, click here.  To review a Schedule for the Day, click here

On this day, children in grades 6 and older and adults, will participate in a variety of service projects at organizations throughout the city such as Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, Catholic Charities, and Compassion-in-Action, to name a few.  Children in grades K-5 will participate in rotating stations each representing a different corporal work of mercy on site at our school and Church with their peers, while their parents serve off-site.  ALL PARTICIPANTS SHOULD PLAN TO EAT LUNCH BEFORE THEY COME.  Dinner will be provided by our meal ministry team. Each station will be led by parent volunteers who have completed Safe Environment Training and the day will be full of fun and learning.  There will be a variety of age-appropriate projects for the children.  Please note:  any participant under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian also taking part in the day.  Parents volunteering to help with the K-5 program or volunteers who will be serving as team captains for our 6th graders through adults, need to be VIRTUS trained and have received a background check.  Please click here for a link to the VIRTUS training locations and to print and fill out the background check information.
