Exchange of rings:

After the exchange of vows, the wedding rings are then blessed and given to the couple to place on each other’s finger.  As the groom places his wife’s ring on her finger, he may say:

“_______, take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity.  In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

As the bride places her husband’s ring on his finger, she may say:

“_______, take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity.  In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

 Questions of Intent/Marriage Vows:

The priest will invite the couple to come forward to exchange their wedding vows.  He will ask the following questions to which each of you will answer for yourself by stating, “I DO”:

  • Have you come here freely and without reservation to give yourselves to each other in marriage?
  • Will you love and honor each other as man and wife for he rest of your lives?
  • Will you accept children lovingly from God and bring them up according to the law of Christ and his Church?
