When the proposals go out, the Parish Council may then want to look over options for our PR projects. The Girl Scouts donated the crucifixes for the new area as their annual gift to St Pius X. The Food Drive for Sacred Heart is over – 4500 food items. Barnes & Noble night sponsored by PSA made $3300 in one evening. This Tuesday is “Prayer and Share” Day – there’s a Mass and more food items will be collected by the school children. Also Veterans will be honored. Parish and school combined for Coats for Kids. Committee Reports: PARISH CONVENING: Feedback Mary sent a report on the workshops she attended. “Praying with the Heart of Christ” and “Ministering as Christ Ministered” Justyn went to “Recruiting and Nurturing Volunteers” and “Practices for Renewing Your Parish’s Faith Community” Tom went to a workshop on “Stewardship and how to Involve Your Ministry”. They all found points pertinent to where we are in our own search for more involvement and commitment. Kate spoke for Welcoming and Hospitality based on the Parish Survey. Among points being discussed, studied and hopefully pursued are the integration of new parishioners, “Tap on the Shoulder” ministry where a person is personally asked to join and help out – all stressing the personal touch. There was a discussion of people’s “mind sets” about our Parish and how they expressed this in the survey. Based on the survey, there have been meetings of the major committees and ministries in the Parish so that each group could express suggestions or concerns written in by parishioners. Frank asked those members who had been part of the feedback group to comment. It was felt that there should be a constant review of issues by the various parish committees. The question of ushers (or lack of) was raised. Frank and Jack Egan will be meeting with Father this Friday and they will try to come up with a plan to attract and train more ushers. Pastor’s comments: Father reminded the PPC of the Dedication next Wednesday. Also, there was an article written about our survey in The National Catholic Reporter. NEXT MEETING ***PLEASE NOTE CHANGE *** Respectfully submitted |
