Frank called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M... Frank led the opening prayer.

Because Jackie could not be at this meeting Frank said that the executive committee decided to postpone discussion of proposed changes to the constitution and to the parish web site until the Oct6ober meeting. He asked that everyone read through the St. Pius Constitution and the Web Site and send comments to Jackie De Santi by October ll. The proposed additions/and or corrections will be discussed at the October 18, 2006 meeting.

Frank stressed the importance of attending meetings if at all possible.

Minutes – Frank called the members attention to the minutes of September 20. He made a correction regarding the opening prayer. Frank invites anyone who would like to say an opening prayer for the next meeting to e-mail him in advance. The minutes were adopted as amended.

Frank reviewed the Action Report from last month

  • Jackie will accept additions/and or correction for the Web Site and the Constitution until October 11, 2006
  • All committee descriptions have been sent to Frank. Joe Tamer made a motion to accept the committee descriptions for inclusion in the web site.

School Report – Danielle Cox, Assistant Principal presented a verbal report to the Parish Council. In 2005 there were 610 students enrolled at the school. In 2006 there are 625 students enrolled at St. Pius School.

St. Pius School is the largest Catholic elementary school in the surrounding 26 districts.

The school is always open for a tour by prospective families.

Parish Picnic

Sue Krosky, picnic chairman, sent Frank a report on the Parish Picnic held on Sunday, September 17. Between 250 and 300 people attended. Sue suggested that the celebration be held on a different weekend next year since there was a large affair held at “The Crossings”the same day as our picnic. A good time was certainly had by all.

Parish Convening – Brian reported on the “2006 Parish Convening” to be held on Saturday, October 28 at LaSalle Institute. It is sponsored by the Diocesan Pastoral Council. If you wish to attend please complete the registration and give to Brian Evers by October 15, 2006.

Father Farano – Father discussed the Bishop’s information regarding “Called to BE Church. The “Town Hall” meetings will be held in October and November. Frank will be chairing the committee. Meetings will be held with 5 or 6 parishes to discuss the results of each meeting.

The first “Town Hall Meeting” will be held on Monday October 16 in the Parish Hall. The topic to be discussed will be Mission of the Church.

The second “Town Hall Meeting will be held on Thursday, November 16 in the Parish Hall. The topic to be discussed will be Ministry.

There will be formal discussions after January l with a few representatives participating from each parish.

  1. All Parish Council members should attend the Town Hall Meetings if at all possible.
  2. Father would like suggestions for 4 or 5 people to work on “Call to BE Church”. He would like suggestions for a sub-committee. Please get back to Father by 9/24 with suggestions for members. A cross section of the community would be appropriate; older, in-between with families, 20 and 30 something parishioners, and young persons.

All Committee Reports have been submitted and e-mailed to all Parish Council members. There were no additions or corrections. This e-mailing is working out well since all members have reports before meeting.

Again, all committee reports should be e-mailed to Marlene by October 10 if possible.

Frank went over the Committees to make certain that each committee had a Parish Council person as either a chairperson or a member. All members should make a commitment, if possible, to join a committee.

Mission of the Contemporary Parish

Frank opened up the discussion of Part I of the Mission of the Contemporary Parish.
There was some excellent discussion and Paul Kutey hit a “home run” summing up our discussion with Evangelizationas a definition of the mission of the parish.

Frank will send a summary of the discussion to all Council members by e-mail.

Action Items

  • Review Constitution and send comments to Jackie DeSanti by October 11.
  • View Parish Web Page and send comments to Jackie DeSanti by October 11.

Frank will send a complete list of all Action Items to Council members by e-mail.
