ST. PIUS X PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 16, 2009
The September meeting was called to order by Cindy Pettit
In Attendance
Dennis MulJahy, Kate Bums, John DeFilippo, Tom Christman, Barb White, Nancy Uruskys, Lana Zanella, Mary NardeJlitto. Brian Evers, Jill Counihan, Maria Patrick, Dick Connery, Peter Ranalli, Tom Falllah, Caitlin Mason, Justyn Bates, Frank Pugliano, Father Farana, Father Moore, Jackie De Santi, Cindy Pettit and Marlene Papa.
A motion was made by Justyn Bates to accept the minutes as sent and Frank Pugliano seconded the
motion. All approved.
Cindy welcomed Jim Thayer (School Board President) and Maria Patrick (PSA, President.) The School
Board and the PSA have been busy. There will be several nights of activities to bring children and
parents together with meaningful workshops. An ice cream social is includ ed. .
Cindy sent out a listing for all to sign up for the School Board meetings.
Religious Education
Peter Ranalli reported on the religious Ed Program. We have a great staff teaching on weekends and a
large influx of children.
Cindy passed out a sheet at the meeting to see if anyone would like to sign up for a committee.
Youth Ministry
Brian reported on the youth programs. He will be attending a conference in the faJl with several of the
Confirmation members. Also, the Confirmation members are doing a great job on volunteering for church related activities as well as the food pantry . The date for the Confirmation will not be announced until after December but there are already meetings with parents.
Committee Reports
Christian Works and Services Tom Christman reported all of the collecti ons were a huge success; towels, food and all other calls for supplies. This Parish does a wonderful job in responding to calls for help from our neighbors in need.
Ministry Fair/Parish Picnic - to be held on October 4 Picnic from 1-4 and Ministry from 1 - 3. We hope to
set-up tables near the food so people will be encouraged to look at all of the activities availab le in the
Parish.
Girl Scout Blood Drive saturday October 3 from 9-1
Sister Parish - Jackie made a report regarding a fund raiser to be held in January or February. It will be a pizza tasting contest where several vendors will be asked to donate pizza and wings and a winner will be chosen. We have not set up the deta ils yet. Brian will contact a parish that has been very successful in this venture.
Public Relations update - There will be a live demonstration on September 23 at 7pm in the school library. Allinterested parties are encouraged to attend. The School Board and the Parish Council would like to work closer together so we can share ideas. St. Pius has had a great response to the large bill boards placed in several locations advertising the school
Parish Survey Report - Frank Pugliano
There was a rather lengthy discussion regarding updates on the parish survey. We have elected to choose one topic for each meeting for discussion.
Fr. Farano's Comments
He is pleased with the way the school is growing. The new room addition should be available by the end of Oct.
At this point it seems that we will be continuing to announce the no parking situation at each Mass. Father will have cones put up to see if this wi ll curtail parking in the front of the church.
Father Farano led the closing prayer.
Next Parish Council Meeting will be Wednesday, October 21 at 7;00 PM.
