Our catholic tradition has always affirmed the dignity of the human person as created in the image and likeness of God. We know that our ministry with children and youth is a sacred trust that needs to be preserved at all times and in all places
The United States Bishops approved the charter for the Protection of Children and Young People in an effort to protect children and youth from sexual abuse at all levels of church life.
The Diocese of Albany has established a program for parishes to help them create a safe environment and to teach children and youth about sexual abuse and its prevention. We know that children and youth who attend public schools already receive “Safe Environment Training” by state mandate. The Diocesan program is intended to reinforce this training by putting it into a faith context.
Safe Environment Training schedule:
Grades 1 and 3 – October 22
Grade 2 – October 29
Kindergarten – November 5
Grade 4 – November 19
